time travel booth
a row of buttons
down her front
bring small bills — transhumans won’t make change

mounds
of plastic bags all that is known
of that race
Generation Ten ate all the steel
dust and scrub,
yet this can smells of
iridium

a lark’s song
and she wakes – it’s just a dream
of Earth
through leafmould sapphires burn: Seventh Life
early dawn –
windshields clear of
ammonia frost
next up to bat… Homo habilis
this place of red,
turning… the first of
many worms
when sulphur flows
down living rock,
remember me

III

and switch to light beer too.
I’ll show my old lady I’ve still
got it.
IV
Hang on,
maybe there’s a way.
If I could sell this place…
Dammit, what’s the use, who am I
kidding?
V
Ali –
he missed his chance
at gradual decay.
Strange to picture him living to
my age.

out of
the matter pod: a parfit
gentil knight
the Sibyl speaks:
silos start to rise
Ful worthy was he in his lordes werre,
And therto hadde he riden (no man ferre)
As wel in Cristendom as hethenesse,
And ever honoured for his worthinesse.

tick
the mountains crumble
tick
you come back to me
my bad:
one more anthracite fruitcake
